Roy Lang, 4th September 2015

What an inspiration was the September demonstration by Roy Lang a self taught artist of twenty years experience in portraying the wild beauty of the Cornish coast. He conjured the spell of a turbulent sea crashing against a rocky shoreline illuminated in the coloured lights of the  late afternoon sun.

Inexpensive tools in the practised hand of a master craftsman were no inhibition to the development before one’s very eyes of a truly atmospheric work of art. The allotted time expired yet the audience was totally engaged in the process and the clock forgotten.

The chairman thanking Mr Lang for his absorbing performance remarked on the paradox that the skill of a true craftsman is made evident when the observer is inspired and persuaded that he can readily work a like magic even though the reality is quite otherwise.
