Kenneth Appleton d. 2018
Kenneth was born in Yorkshire. He spent many years living and working inScotland where his paintings were exhibited in Glasgow and Dundee galleries.
He moved to Devon in 1996 and exhibited in the South-West and London galleries.
He was a great admirer of the Post-impressionists and the Fauves together with modern artists such as Frank Auerbach, Alan Cotton, George Rowlett and Arthur Maderson. All of these artists have had a great influence on his work.
His passionate love of colour is shown in the dramatic and emotional interpretation of his subjects when painting in oils and watercolour.
In later paintings he moved to an oil impasto technique with palette knife when painting some landscapes, portraits and still life subjects.
